Antipope Francis' Bombshell Interview. Saturday 5th October, 2013. Our Lady's Saturday

Antipope Francis' Bombshell Interview - by Brother Peter Dimond

Northern Hemisphere Autumn

"This is Brother Peter Dimond, (www.vaticancatholic.com).  Antipope Francis recently gave a shocking interview to the editor of the so-called Jesuit journel, La Civilta Cattolica  He was interviewed by Antonio Spadaro.

I want to talk about the major heresies in the interview as well as other statements Francis makes that are wicked.

There are three major heresies in the interview.  Let's cover these first.

The three major heresies in this interview are:

1.  The idea that the understanding of Church teaching can be different from what it was previously.

2.  His position that the schismatic "Orthodox" should not be, and do not need to be converted to the Catholic Faith.

3.  His position that God does not reject or condemn homosexuals.

There are numerous other statements that are extremely interesting in this interview.  I will cover those after we consider the major heresies.

First major Heresy

The first of the major heresies that I want to discuss comes on p.13 where Francis says "The view of the church's teaching as a monolith to defend without nuance or different understanding is wrong."

In the context of discussing the deposit of faith and how the Church' teaching is transmitted from one era to another, he plainly states that it is wrong to view the church's teaching as a monolith, that is as something with an immoveable or inflexible character that is to be defended without different understanding.

He  therefore openly teaches that it is wrong to believe the Church's teaching, that is, dogma, cannot have an understanding that is different from what it had before.   That is blatant heresy!

The First Vatican Council declared, "Hence, also that understanding of its [the Church's] sacred dogmas must be perpetually retained, which Holy Mother Church has once declared; and there must never be a recession from that meaning under the specious name of a deeper understanding."

[ Vatican I condemns antipope Francis]

It also taught that there must be "the same doctrine, the same sense, and the same understanding."

The idea that the understanding of Church teaching or dogma can be different from what it was previously is heresy and heresy on a basic rudimentary matter of faith.   It absolutely proves that Francis is not remotely a Catholic.

In fact, consistent with his heretical views that the understanding of Church teaching can change with time, he also says in this context, "Hence, human self understanding changes with time and so also human consciousness deepens."

It is condemned heresy to believe that the understanding of Church teaching changes with time.

As the First Vatican Council declared, "If anyone says that it is possible that at some time given the advancement of knowledge, a sense may be assigned to the dogmas propounded by the Church which is different from that which the Church has understood and understands: let him be anathema."

As Pope Gregory XV1 taught in Mirari Vos, 1832, ..."nothing of the things appointed ought to be diminished; nothing changed; nothing added; but they must be preserved both as regards expression and meaning."

[ Pope Gregory XVI condemns antipope Francis]

Second Major Heresy

The next major heresy I want to discuss comes on P.9 of the interview.   This is a major heresy that has been largely, if not completely overlooked by others who have commented on his interview.

Francis is asked about his ecumenism and the schismatic "Orthodox" who don't accept Papal Infallibility and the Papal Primacy of Jurisdiction.    He says, "Maybe it is time to change the method of the Synod of Bishops, because it seems to me that the current method is not dynamic.   This will also have ecumenical value, especially with our Orthodox brethren.  From them we can learn more about the meaning of episcopal collegiality and the tradition of synodality."

He goes on to say, "...we should recognise what the Spirit has sown in the other as a gift for us."

Before I continue, note he's saying that the Holy Spirit sows things in schismatics who reject Catholic dogma.   He's saying we should learn from them how to work on the local level, how to use synods etc.

He goes on to say "I want to continue the discussions that was begun in 2007 by the joint Catholic-Orthodox commission on how to exercise the Petrine Primacy, which led to the signing of the Ravenna Document."

[ antipope Benedict with schismatic Orthodox]

In 2007, a commission under Benedict XVI officially approved the Ravenna Document.   The Ravenna Document was a joint statement by the Vatican II sect and the schismatic Orthodox.   This statement officially approved the "Orthodox" view of the Church, how they work locally; it clearly teaches that they're in the Church, since they have the Eucharist.    That's a heresy that's also taught in Vatican II.

It praises autocephalous Churches, that is schismatic independent churches, which reject the Papacy.   It says that they are an expression of the Spirit of the Church, and it denies the necessity for the schismatics to embrace Catholic teaching on the Papacy in various ways.  It's complete heresy and schism. [We have an article on that].

Francis says that's the way to go!

But that's not even the worst thing he says about schismatic Orthodox in this passage, or the most theologically significant thing.

[antipope Benedict XVI approved Ravenna Document with schismatic Orthodox]

The most important thing he says comes next.    He is then asked how he envisions the future unity of the Church in the light of these comments.

He answers, "We must walk united with our differences; there is no other way to become one.  This is the way of Jesus."

That's an open blatant statement that the schismatic Orthodox do not need to be, and shall not be converted to the Catholic Faith.  He says that there is no other way to achieve unity; no other way to become one, to walk united with our differences, that is with their rejection of the Papacy.

That is total heresy!  It's a denial of many Catholic dogmas, the necessity of the Catholic Faith for salvation, the necessity of the schismatics to convert, and it's exactly opposite of what Pope Pius XI taught in Mortalium Animos.

[ antipope Francis with schismatic Orthodox]

He said, "...for the union of Christians can only be promoted by promoting the return to the one true Church of Christ of those who are separated from it..."

Notice that Francis not only blatantly denies that teaching, proving that he's a heretic, but, Pius XI says that the only way to promote Christian unity is by telling them to convert, whereas Francis says that the only way to promote unity is to walk united in differences.    So he's not only denying the Catholic teaching, he is saying that his view, his heretical view, is the only way that must be followed.

It's just total heresy and blasphemy!

This heresy on the Orthodox which was also taught by the previous Vatican II antipopes in various ways, carries great theological significance because it denies dogmatic truths at the heart of Vatican Council I.

Vatican I made it quite clear in various statements that no one can remain in the Church of Christ without accepting Catholic teaching on Papal Infallibility and Papal Primacy of Jurisdiction.

[ Vatican I declares Francis - No Pope!]

Francis teaches the opposite.  He rejects, spits upon and trashes Vatican I.    If you adhere to the teaching of Vatican I, you must reject Francis.  His denial of Vatican I is a prime reason among others that he's not the Pope!

The Third Major Heresy

The next major heresy I want to cover comes on P.7 of the interview.    He's talking about homosexuals, and he says, "In Buenos Aires I used to receive letters from homosexuals persons who are 'socially wounded' because they tell me that they feel like the church has always condemned them.   But the church does not want to do this.    During the return flight from Rio de Janeiro I said that if a homosexual person is of good will and is in search of God, I am no one to judge."  He goes on to say, "it is not possible to interfere spiritually in the life of a person."

He then re-quotes something he said previously about homosexuals:  "Tell me: When God looks at a gay person, does he endorse the existence of this person with love, or reject and condemn this person?"

This is wicked heresy!    First he says, 'no one to judge.'

That's interesting because the First Vatican Council declared that a Pope, a true Pope, is the supreme judge of the faithful.    Francis doesn't judge or condemn anyone because he's not a Catholic and he's not the Pope.

[Vatican Council I - a true Pope is supreme judge]

Second, he's discussing homosexuals.  He says he's no one to judge, and he teaches that God doesn't condemn them or reject them.   That indicates quite clearly, that homosexuals could be justified despite their wickedness and abominable behaviour.   And, we know Francis is including active homosexuals in his comments, because he makes no distinction between people who merely consider themselves to have a homosexual orientation, and those who engage in homosexual behaviour.

Indeed, we know he's talking about those who engage in homosexual acts because Francis refers to homosexuals who have claimed to him that they feel excluded.    That obviously includes active homosexuals.   In fact, in this very context Francis speaks of confession.

The Vatican II sect would only consider homosexual acts, not the homosexual orientation, matters for confession.

Francis then speaks in the very same context of gay "marriage".  That obviously refers to, and includes practising homosexuals.   Francis also says in this very context, "that we must consider their situation" and  look upon things with "mercy" which come in the context of his reference to confession, only have meaning if he's referring to practising homosexuals.

Francis also applied his comments to both "homosexual persons" and to "homosexuality."

Read carefully in context, there is no doubt that Francis' teaching that he does not judge, condemn or reject homosexuals or homosexuality includes practising homosexuals.

[ Vatican I - a Pope is the supreme judge of the faithful - Francis NO POPE!]

That is totally evil and it is heresy.

Based upon Sacred Scripture, the Church has always taught that those who practise homosexuality are condemned , judged and rejected.

1 Corinthians, 6:9 explicitly teaches that those who practise homosexuality are rejected from the Kingdom of God.   That means they are rejected and condemned, the opposite of what Francis teaches.

Francis' position is heretical.  It constitutes a new false Gospel.

The Church calls homosexuals out of their wickedness and out of their perversion.  It calls them to convert.   But as they are, they are in a state of condemnation.

By the way, Scripture is quite clear that the homosexual orientation is unnatural and results from mortal sin, idolatry and apostasy. [ see Romans chapter 1.]

People can be delivered from it by the grace of God.

Francis' evil and heretical comments about homosexuality come at a time when acceptance of homosexuality is sweeping the World.   It's dominating.  It's moving so quickly that people who adhere to the Biblical position on homosexuality cannot even run a business in some places.

[Francis doing the work of the Devil]

Francis' wicked statement is exactly what the world did not need to hear.  It's exactly the message the Devil wanted the World to hear to keep it moving without hindrance on its path of perversion.

Those are the three major heresies in his interview.   Let's consider some of the other statements he makes:

Other Heresies of Francis

On P.8 Francis continues his discussion of homosexuality.  He also gets into contraception and abortion.  This is a passage which the media gave quite a lot of attention to:  He says, "We cannot insist only on issues related to abortion, gay "marriage" and the use of contraceptive methods.  This is not possible."

He goes on to say, " The teaching of the church, for that matter, is clear and I am a son of the church, but it is not necessary to talk about those issues all the time."

Since the Vatican II sect does nothing to stop abortion, gay "marriage" and contraception, as proven by the fact that people who support those evils go to "communion" freely, not only at Francis' false services, but all over the Vatican II sect, Francis' statement that we should not talk about those issues all the time, clearly means in context, that he doesn't want these issues stressed or emphasized, that he doesn't want people to consider opposition to these evils, prerequisites or requirements to consider someone a Catholic.

In fact, in this context, he goes on to say, "The dogmatic and moral teachings of the church are not all equivalent ... Proclamation in a missionary style focuses on the essentials, on the necessary things; ...We have to find a new balance."

When he says that, "we must focus on the essentials, the necessary things, and he's speaking in the context of dogmatic and moral truths, such as the Church's teaching against the aforementioned evils, he's actually teaching the very false doctrine condemned by Pope Pius XI in Mortalium Animos.

Mortalium Animos - Pius XI

Pius XI said, "in connection with things which must be believed, it is nowise licit to use that distinction which some have seen fit to introduce between those articles of faith which are fundamental and those which are not fundamental, as they say, as if the former are to be accepted by all, while the latter may be left to the free assent of the faithful: for the supernatural virtue of faith has a formal cause, namely the authority of God revealing, and this is patient of no such distinction.   For this reason it is that all who are truly Christ's believe, for example, the Conception of the Mother of God without stain of original sin with the same faith as they believe the mystery of the August Trinity, and the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ, just as do the infallible teaching authority of the Roman Pontiff..."

Pius XI is condemning the idea that when you consider things that have been infallibly taught by the Church, some can be considered fundamental and others can be considered non-fundamental or as Francis says, "Some can be considered as essential and others can be considered non-essential," from the standpoint of one's obligation to accept those teachings when they are proposed to you.   No, you must accept all of them!

Francis is clearly making the very distinction Pius XI condemned.

He's saying it's not really necessary to oppose abortion, gay "marriage"and contraception as his previous statements about "he doesn't judge or condemn the homosexuals" prove.

                       [Feeding the poor-Francis' essentials]

What's essential to him is 'feeding the poor' and 'accepting all sinners.'  It doesn't really matter if you oppose gay "marriage' contraception and abortion.

And, since the Vatican II sect doesn't condemn the evils in reality, his attempt to de-emphasize these issues clearly indicates in context DON'T INSIST UPON THEM.

It is purely evil and it's further proof he's a complete heretic and apostate.   The very distinction he draws is a heretical one condemned by the Church.

The fact that this is the meaning that this is the meaning he is conveying is precisely why the notorious Pro-abortion group, NARAL, thanked antipope Francis for his comments.

Pro-choice NARAL love Francis!

They recognised that Francis' statements mean that people do not have to insist upon opposition to abortion, contraception and gay "marriage"

Now, on P.3, Francis discusses his motto.  He says "that his motto is of that of John XXIII: 'See everything, turn a blind eye to much; correct a little.'  John XXIII saw all things, the maximum dimension, but he chose to correct a few, the minimum dimension."

So Francis' motto is that he turns a blind eye to much, and when you consider that the matters that he's turning a blind eye to involve heresy, sin, the violation of God's law.   It shows you what a wicked apostate he is.

Apostate Francis-turning a blind eye

On P.6, he discusses sanctity, and he says, "I see the sanctity of God's people...There is a 'holy middle class' ...I see holiness in the patience of the people of God; a woman who is raising children, a man who works to bring home the bread, the sick, the elderly priests, the sisters, my dad, my mom, my grandmother Rosa ... she is a saint."

The point is, that he thinks everyone's holy.  He thinks everyone's a saint; sin means nothing to this apostate.  Anything goes.  Everyone's essentially going to heaven and everything's fine, as long as you feed the poor and accept sinners.

Evil fruits of Vatican II-Blasphemy

On P.9, Francis says, "We have to work harder to develop a profound theology of the woman."  What does that mean???  It's just more meaningless nonsense that tickles the ears of liberal apostates.

On the same page he also discusses Vatican II, that wicked false council which taught numerous heresies.   He says "Vatican II is absolutely irreversible."   He also says, "It's fruits are enormous.  Just recall the liturgy."

Francis thinks that the liturgical fruits of Vatican II are tremendous.   Anyone who has any conservatism knows they were evil and horrible and disastrous

Fruits of Vatican II

On P.10, Francis praises uncertainty and condemns doctrinal security.  In this context Francis speaks of how it's necessary to have uncertainty and doubt about your encounter with God and beliefs about God.  He says that if you're certain of your position, that's a sign that you are not of God.    He even criticises the view which declares with certitude that 'God is here,' even though that's exactly what the Catholic Church teaches about God's definite Eucharistic Presence in True Masses and Tabernacles.

More evil fruits of Vatican II

He also says "those who today always look for disciplinarian solutions, those who long for an exaggerated doctrinal 'security,' those who stubbornly try to recover a past that no longer exists" - these are the people he's denouncing, the people who have 'doctrinal security' and 'certainty.'

That's what it provides for us, yet he's criticising doctrinal security.   But, he goes on to say, "I have dogmatic certainty."

So he does have one.  "God is in every person's life.  God is in every one's life, even if the life of a person has been a disaster, even if it is destroyed by vices, drugs or anything else - God is in this person's life."

So you should doubt things and forget about dogmatic, security and certainty, except in one area, that no matter how sinful you are, no matter how much you reject God, God is still with you.

Two No-Popes - deceiving piety

This is just wicked faithlessness.  It's also interesting that the article begins by noting that Francis has austere and simple living quarters.   Francis also claims to spend an hour a day in front of the "Blessed Sacrament" and to pray constantly.   He's obviously not spending time in front of the Blessed Sacrament, because  it's not present in the Novus Ordo "Mass."

But this is an example of how externals can be deceiving.  Acts of apparent piety can be deceiving.  Francis is totally evil as his complete rejection of Christ and the Catholic Faith shows.

When a person rejects the Faith of God, it does not matter what else he or she does.  Faith is essential.  Without faith it's impossible to please God, as Hebrews 11:6 says. That's why we see throughout the Scriptures that faith is important to God.

St. Paul preaching about Faith

Those who deny faith severe the initial connection to Him and are worthless in His sight.  That's why if people are rejecting the faith you cannot judge them by what other activities they may be involved with.  You must judge them on based on their conformity to the rule of faith.

On P.2, Francis also says, "I cannot live without people.  I need to live my life with others.

I find that interesting because it shows he cannot tolerate solitude.  He cannot stand to be alone with God.  he must always be around other people.  That's because he's wicked.  Evil people hate solitude and have never found God in solitude

Francis cannot stand solitude

Francis also makes numerous statements which prove that he's a total modernist.   What he says is essentially exactly what Pius X condemned in his encyclical against the modernists.

For example, on P.5, Francis speaks of how "There is no full identity without belonging to people.  No one is saved alone, as an isolated individual, but God attracts us looking at the complex web or relationships that take place in the human community."

He's speaking of the collective community.    In No. 23, of Pacendi, the encyclical against the Modernists, Pius X said, " What, then, is the Church?  [According to the modernists] It is the product of the collective conscience..."

That's what Francis is essentially saying.  He also speaks of experience.   On P.6 he refers to "it is the experience of holy mother the hierarchical church,"

He makes this statement in the context of speaking about how the faithful considered as a whole possess infallibility, which is based on their collective experience.   Modernists frequently speak of experience.

Pius X pointed out that they apply experience to tradition to destroy it, they don't view tradition as something handed down and faithfully guarded, but as something to be viewed in the light of people's experience.   That's the language Francis uses because he's a modernist; he's not a Catholic.

So those are some of the other quotes that are interesting which further prove that Francis is a faithless, wicked apostate.   But the most important parts of the interview are the heresies I mentioned

Antipope Francis denies Catholic faith is necessary for Salvation

The three major heresies are:

1.  Francis' view that the understanding of Church teaching can be different from what it was previously.

2.  His teaching that the schismatic "Orthodox" should not be, and do not need to be converted to the Catholic faith.

3.  His teaching that the homosexuals are not rejected and condemned by God.

Those are heresies.  Do not allow liars to tell you that Francis' interview has been misrepresented by the media.    We've considered the quotes.  His statements have not been misrepresented.

There are other liars in the false traditional movement who have major problems with Francis' interview, but they claim that there is nothing openly heretical in the interview.

That is nonsense. They don't know what they are talking about.

The first two heresies we covered, even if you exclude the statement on homosexuals are bold denials of Catholic teaching, major open heresies.

Francis' homo-heresy interview is further proof that he's a heretical non-Catholic antipope and that the organization he leads, the Vatican II sect is not the Catholic Church but the End Times Counter Church."

The Tallis Scholars are a British vocal ensemble normally consisting of two singers per part, with a core group of ten singers.    Formed in 1973 by their director Peter Phillips, they specialise in performing a cappella sacred vocal music written during the Renaissance by composers from all over Europe.   They are currently recognised as one of the world-leaders in this field, having risen to a place of prominence among other professional ensembles.

Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525 or 1526 - 1594) was an Italian Renaissance composer of sacred music and the best-known 16th-century representative of the Roman School of musical composition.   He has had a lasting influence on the development of church music, and his work has often been seen as the culmination of Renaissance polyphony.

Picture: Section of van Eyck's Ghent Altarpiece.  It is a very large and complex early 15th century Early Flemish polyptych panel painting.  The altarpiece consists of 12 panels, eight of which are hinged shutters.  They are painted on either side, giving two very distinct alternations depending on whether the outer wings are open and closed.   Outside of Sundays and festive holidays the work was displayed with the outer wings closed, and was often covered with a cloth.  The work was commissioned from Hubert van Eyck of whom little is known.  Hubert was most likely responsible for the overall design, but died in 1426.   It seems to have been principally executed and completed by his younger and better known brother Jan van Eyck between 1430-32.  Although there have been extensive attempts by many art historians over the centuries to isolate the passages attributed to either brother, no separation has ever been convincingly established.   Today most accept that the work was probably designed and constructed by Hubert, and that the individual panels were painted by Jan after his return from diplomatic duties in Spain (Wikipedia)

A cappella

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A cappella [a kapˈpɛlla] (Italian for "in the manner of the chapel")[1] music is specifically group or solo singing without instrumental accompaniment, or a piece intended to be performed in this way. It contrasts with cantata, which is accompanied singing. The term "a cappella" was originally intended to differentiate between Renaissance polyphony and Baroque concertato style. In the 19th century a renewed interest in Renaissance polyphony coupled with an ignorance of the fact that vocal parts were often doubled by instrumentalists led to the term coming to mean unaccompanied vocal music.[1] The term is also used, albeit rarely, as a synonym for alla breve.[2]

[And here's me thinking she was trying to insist it was  'ah,capella, and not simply 'capella.'!

....however, I don't think that was a major slip on my part...more of a minor first, and so I have to humbling accept the fact that, understandably in this instance,  I willingly and happily eat 'humble pie' along with the triffle ]

Antipope Francis says atheists can be saved. Friday 13th September, 2013 Ferial Day

Antipope Francis says atheists can be saved  - by Bro. Peter Dimond (www.vaticancatholic.com)

_________________________________________________

"This is Bro. Peter Dimond (www.vaticancatholic.com).   Antipope Francis is dominating the headlines around the world with his assertion that people don't need to believe in God to get to heaven.     His position is of course, heresy and apostasy.  He made the statement in an open letter to the founder of the newspaper La Repubblica.

Statements like this only confirm what we've documented about the Vatican II antipopes, and what was proven in our video "What Francis Really Believes." ( 2nd Edition )   I've read Francis' entire letter.  The headlines accurately reflect what antipope Francis wrote.

Don't allow any liar to claim that Francis' statement has been misrepresented.

It has not been misrepresented.

Concerning atheists, Francis wrote, "First of all, you ask if the God of Christians forgives those who do not believe and do not seek faith.     Given that - and this is fundamental - God's mercy has no limits if he who asks for mercy does so in contrition and with a sincere heart, the issue for those who do not believe in God is in obeying their own conscience.
In fact, listening and obeying it, means deciding about what is perceived to be good or to be evil.    The goodness or the wickedness of our behaviour depends on this decision."

Here Francis clearly indicates that people who don't believe in God can be forgiven and saved if they obey their own conscience and follow what they perceive to be good.

That's an astounding heresy because it's a basic dogma of Catholicism that faith is necessary for salvation.   This is a fundamental issue.

As Hebrews 11:6 says, "... without faith it is impossible to please God."

The dogma of the Church, that no one can be justified, saved or pleasing to God without faith was taught throughout history and solemnly declared by the Council of Trent and Vatican I.

Both Councils repeated the truth of Hebrews 11:6.    Of course, it's also a dogma that one must have the Catholic faith to be saved, and that no one can be saved outside the Catholic Church.

These truths have been defined by many popes.

Francis' heresy trashes and denies all of those proclamations , but it gets even worse, because there are specific dogmatic definitions against the notion that atheists can be excused or saved.

Based on Romans 1:20, which teaches that all who deny the existence of God are inexcusable.

Vatican I solemnly declared in Canon 1, On Revelation, "If anyone shall have said that the one true God, our Creator and Lord, cannot be known with certitude by those things which have been made, by the natural light of human reason: let him be anathema."

Noted: The position that atheists can be excused for not recognizing what is clear from the natural light of human reason, namely, that there is a God, is an anathematized heresy.

In Canon 1, On God the Creator, Vatican I also declared, " If anyone shall have denied the one true God, Creator and Lord of visible and invisible things, let him be anathema."

That means that anyone who denies God or His existence, is specifically anathematized.

Francis' statement rejects these dogmatic definitions, in addition to all the others previously mentioned.    People need to recognize the significance of this heresy.

The truth that one must have faith is a basic and fundamental teaching of Christianity.  His statement that people can be saved without faith is equivalent to denying Jesus is God, that Mary is the Mother of God, or that Jesus rose again.  They are all basic dogmas.

He has openly repudiated the teaching of Christianity, the necessity of faith.   He is a complete heretic, not that more proof was required, but Francis' statement is another indication that he is not the pope, but a heretical non-Catholic antipope.

The organization he represents, the Vatican II sect, is not the Catholic Church, but the End Times Counter Church.

By the way, last week we received the new version of our crucial new 7:1 DVD, even though the cover for this DVD currently says it contains 5 programs, it actually contains 7 programs.

It includes the new and updated version of "What Francis really Believes," and the video on "The Prophecy of St. Malachy."  This DVD also contains the video "Is the World about to End - The Apocalypse Explained?" - which was published on line in May of this year.

It includes the updated versions of "The Third Secret of Fatima,"  "Death and Journey into Hell," "Creation and Miracles," and the "Miraculous Image of Guadalupe," all on one DVD.

This is an extremely important item to have and distribute, to inform people in our time, what they need to know.  It also contains material which should interest non-Catholics as well as those who claim to be Catholic.  The equivalent version of the DVD is also available in Spanish."

St. Philomena - Virgin, Martyr and Wonder Worker. Sunday, 8th September, Nativity of the BVM. 16th Sunday after Pentecost. St Hadrian, M

St Philomena Powerful with God!
_____________________________

_____________________________________________

Discovered by excavators in the catacomb of St. Priscilla, in Rome on May 25th, the Feast of Our Lady of Christians in 1802, were the remains of a young girl, of about twelve or thirteen years of age, along with a vial or ampulla of her dried blood.

Inscribed on the tomb were several symbols: a lily, arrows, an anchor and a lance, which would appear to indicate virginity and martyrdom.

The remains of this young Grecian Princess were transferred to the treasury of the Rare Collection of Christian Antiquity in the Vatican, and soon forgotten by the general public, especially since there was no record of a virgin martyr named Philomena.

In 1805, a Neopolitan priest, Don Francesco di Lucia requested, and after a brief delay, received the relics of Philomena to enshrine at his Church at Mugnano, near Naples.

Almost immediately, and before their arrival in Mugnano, signal favours began to be granted through her intercession and unusual events began to occur.

One of the most famous miracles attributed to her intercession is the Miracle of Mugnano in which Venerable Pauline Jaricot was cured of an illness that all the most experienced doctors were unable to remedy.    As her devotees have discovered, no request, of whatever nature, is too trivial or too important to concern her.

Within 35 years of her discovery St. Philomena was raised to the altars and proclaimed the Wonder worker of the 19th century.    St. Philomena is a powerful intercessor - especially in our times when so much confusion and lack of faith abounds.    Her Feast day is August 11th.

Life of St. Philomena as Revealed to a Dominican Nun

On August 3rd, 1833, Mother Maria Luisa di Gesu, a Dominican Tertiary Nun, was praying after Communion before a statue of St. Philomena.

She knew that the relics of Saint Philomena had arrived in Mugnano, Italy on August 10th, to be kept for veneration in Mugnanos's village Church, but felt a great desire to know the true date of the saint's martyrdom.

While she was praying, she felt that she must close her eyes, and when she did, she heard a gracious soft voice speak to her from the direction of the statue saying:

" Dear Sister, August 10th was the day of my rest, my triumph, my birth into heaven, my entering into the possession of such eternal goods as the human mind cannot possibly imagine.    That is why my heavenly Spouse disposed by His most high decrees that my coming to Mugnano should be on the day which had seen my coming to Heaven!

He prepared so many circumstances which should make my arrival at Mugnano glorious and triumphant, giving joy to all the people, even though the priest who brought me had absolutely decided that my translation should take place on the 5th of this month very quietly in his own house.

My omnipotent Spouse impeded him with so many obstacles that the priest, although he did all he could to carry out his plan, could not do so.

And so, it came about that the said translation was made on the 10th, the day of my feast in Heaven."

Mother Maria Luisa thought she had fallen prey to an illusion, but her confessor and director was not so hasty in disposing the matter, and after testing it, gave Mother Luisa an obedience to ask saint Philomena to tell her more about her life.

There then came a day when Mother Luisa was in her cell praying, felt her eyes being closed, and heard the gracious voice again.

St. Philomena Reveals Her Life Story

This is what saint Philomena told of her own story:

"I am the daughter of the king of a small Grecian state, and my mother too, was of royal blood.     As they had no children, my parents continually offered sacrifices and prayers to the false gods to obtain a child.

We had in our family a doctor named Publius and he was a Christian.    He pitied the blindness of my parents, and especially he had compassion on my mother in her childlessness.

Inspired by the Holy Ghost he spoke to them of our Faith, and, also, inspired made them this promise:   'If you want a child be baptized and embrace the religion of Jesus Christ.'     Grace accompanied his words and enlightened their minds, softened their hearts, and moved them to consent.

They were instructed and were baptized with some of their courtiers who were in their confidence.

A year later - on January 10th to be exact- I was born, and was called Lumina, because I had been conceived and born in the light of the faith, to which my parents were truly devoted.

And then I was called Filumena - daughter of Light, of that light of Christ, which dwelt in my soul by the grace received in baptism.     And because of my birth many families in the kingdom became Christians.     I grew up with the teaching of the Gospel printed more and more deeply in my heart.

When I was five, I received for the first time Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist, and in that day was planted in my heart the desire to be united forever to my Redeemer, Who is the Spouse of virgins.

And when I was eleven, I consecrated myself to him by vow.

Then came the thirteenth year of my life.     The peace of Christ, which had until that day had reigned in the household and the kingdom of my father was disturbed by the proud and powerful Emperor Diocletian, who unjustly declared war against us.

My father, realizing his inferior strength, decided to go to Rome to make some pact for peace with the Emperor.     So great was the tender affection my father had for me that he could not bear me out of sight for an hour, and so I went with him on his journey to Rome, and rather than be left behind without us, my mother came too.

Arriving in Rome, he asked for an audience with the tyrant, and when it was granted, took me and my mother with him to the Palace of the Caesars.     While my father pleaded his cause and pointed out the injustice of the war that was made on him, the Emperor kept looking at me, and finally interrupted my father, saying:   'Do not distress yourself further.   Your anxiety is at an end.  Be consoled.  You shall have all the Imperial force for your own protection, if you will but consent to a single condition, namely to give me your daughter, Filumena for my wife.'

My parents accepted his condition, and on our return home sought to convince me of my great fortune in becoming the empress of the Romans.

But I rejected the offer without a moment's hesitation, saying that I was already betrothed to Jesus Christ, as I made a vow of virginity when I was eleven.

My father tried to persuade me that, as a child and a daughter, I had no right to dispose of myself, and he used his authority to make me accept the proposal.     But, my Divine Spouse gave me the strength to persevere in my resolution.    Then my mother had recourse to caresses, begging me to have pity on my father, on my mother, and on my country.

"No! No!" I answered them, "my virginity, which I have vowed to God, comes before everything, before you, before my country.   My kingdom is heaven."

My words plunged them into despair and they brought me before the Emperor, who on his part did all in his power to win me.      But his promises, allurements, his threats, were equally useless.

He then flew into a violent fit of anger and influenced by the Devil, had me cast into one of the prisons of the Palace, where he had me loaded with chains.     Thinking that pain and shame would weaken the courage with which my Divine Spouse inspired me, he came to see me every day.      After several days the Emperor issued an order for my chains to be loosed, that I might take a small portion of bread and water.

He renewed his attacks, some of which would have been fatal to purity had it not been for the grace of God.

The defeats which he always experienced were for me the preludes to new tortures, but prayer supported me; I ceased not to recommend myself to Jesus and His most pure Mother.

My captivity had lasted thirty seven days, when in the midst of a heavenly light, I saw Mary holding her Divine Son in her arms.  'My daughter,' she said to me, 'three more days of prison and, after forty days, thou shalt leave this state of pain."

Such happy news made my heart beat with joy, but as the Queen of angels had added that I should quit my prison, to sustain, in frightful torments a combat far more terrible than those preceding, I fell instantly from joy to the most cruel anguish;  I thought it would kill me.  'Have courage, my child,' said Mary, then to me, 'art thou unaware of the love of predilection that I bare to thee?

The name which thou received in baptism, is the pledge of it, by the resemblance which it has to that of my Son and to mine.   Thou art called Lumena, as thy Spouse is called Light, Star, Sun as I myself am called Aurora, Star, the Moon in the fullness of its brightness, and Sun.   Fear not, I will aid thee.   Now, nature whose weakness humbles thee, asserts its law;  in the moment of combat, grace will come to lend thee its force, and thy angel who was also mine, Gabriel, whose name expresses force, will come to thy succor; I will recommend thee especially to his care, as the well-beloved among my children.'

These words the Queen of virgins gave me again courage, and the vision disappeared, leaving my prison filled with a celestial perfume.

What she had announced to me was soon realized.

Diocletian, despairing of bending me, took the resolution of having me publicly tortured, and the first torment to which he condemned me was to be scourged.  'Since she is not ashamed,' said he, 'to prefer to an emperor like me, a malefactor, condemned by his own nation to an infamous death, she deserves that my justice shall treat her as he was treated.'

He then ordered my clothes to be taken off, and that I should be tied to a column; he had me beaten with such violence, that my body, bathed in blood, appeared but one single wound.

The tyrant, perceiving that I was going to faint and die, had me removed from his eyes, and dragged again to prison, where he believed I would breathe out my last sigh.

But, he was disappointed, as I was also, in the delightful hope of going quickly to rejoin my Spouse, for two angels, shining with light, appeared to me, and pouring a health-giving balm over my wounds, rendered me more vigorous that I had been before the torture.

The next morning the emperor was informed of it; he had me brought into his presence, viewed me with astonishment; and then sought to persuade me that I owed my cure to Jupiter whom he adored.  'He desires positively,' said he, ' that you should be empress of Rome.'

And, joining to these seductive words promises of the greatest honors, and the most flattering caresses, he endeavoured to complete the work of Hell, which he had begun; but the Divine Spirit, to whom I am indebted for my constancy, filled me at that moment with so much light and knowledge, that to all the proofs which I gave of the solidity of our faith, neither Diocletian nor any of his courtiers could give any answer whatever.

Then his frenzy came on anew, and he commanded me to be buried, with an anchor to my neck, in the waters of the Tiber.

The order was executed, but God permitted that it should not succeed, for, at the moment in which I was precipitated into the river, two angels came again to my succour, and after having cut through the rope that bound me to the anchor, while the anchor fell to the bottom of the Tiber, where it has remained till the present time, they transported me gently, in the view of an immense multitude, upon the banks of the river.

This miracle worked happy effects upon a great number of spectators, and they were converted to the faith; but Diocletian, attributing it to secret magic, had me dragged through the streets of Rome, and then ordered that I should be shot in a shower of arrows.

I was stuck all over with them; my blood flowed on all sides; when he commanded me, exhausted and dying, to be carried back to my dungeon, Heaven honoured me with a new favour there.

I fell into a sweet sleep, and  I found myself, on awakening, perfectly cured.

Diocletian learns of it.  'Well then,' he cried, in a fit of rage, 'let her be pierced with sharp darts a second time, and let her die in that torture.'     They hastened to obey him.

The archers bent their bows, they gathered all their strength; but the arrows refused to second their intentions.

The emperor was present; he became enraged at the sight; he called me a magician, and, thinking that the action of fire could destroy the enchantment, he ordered the darts to be made red in a furnace, and directed a second time against me.

It was done, indeed; but the darts, after having gone over a part of the space which they were to cross to come to me, took quite a contrary direction, and returned to strike those by whom they had hurled.

Six of the archers were killed by them, and several among them renounced paganism, and the people began to render public testimony to the power of God that had protected me.

These murmurs and acclamations made the tyrant fear some more painful accident; he therefore hastened to terminate my days, by ordering my head to be cut off.

Thus did my soul take flight toward my heavenly Spouse, who placed me, with the crown of virginity and the palm of martyrdom, in a distinguished rank among the elect, who partake of the enjoyment of His Divine presence.

The day that was so happy for me, and saw me enter into glory, was a Friday, and the hour of my death was the third after mid-day ( that is to say, the same hour that saw my Divine Master expire)."
