THE LOCKDOWN FILES : UK Health Secretary Under Fire! - Chantelle Baker

news.com.au

The UK’s former Health Secretary plotted to “deploy the new variant” of Covid-19 to “frighten the pants off everyone” into complying with lockdown, leaked text messages show.

The damning messages between Matt Hancock and media adviser Damon Poole in the run-up to Christmas 2020 show the behind-the-scenes planning to use “Project Fear” to prepare the British public for another Covid lockdown.

They are part of a massive trove of more than 100,000 WhatsApp messages obtained by the UK’s Telegraph, dubbed the Lockdown Files, showing how government ministers and officials used scare tactics to force compliance at the height of the pandemic.

In the conversation on December 13, revealed by The Telegraph on Saturday, Poole informed his boss that Tory MPs were “furious already about the prospect” of stricter Covid measures and suggested “rather than doing too much forward signalling, we can roll pitch with the new strain”.

“We frighten the pants of [sic] everyone with the new strain,” Hancock agreed.

“Yep that’s what will get proper behaviour [sic] change,” Poole said.

When do we deploy the new variant,” Hancock asked.

Poole then warned they needed to be “cautious”, saying the “big risk with the variant” was that “right wing papers go for a renewed push for let it rip on the basis the vaccines strategy is undermined”.

“That’s why we reassure on the vaccine,” Hancock replied.

At the start of December 2020, the UK had emerged from its second national lockdown, a one-month “circuit breaker”, and entered a tiered system which saw different areas of the country under different restrictions.

“Essentially, we’ve got to get that vaccine rolled out to keep people safe … I think given how much faster this new variant spreads it is going to be very difficult to keep it under control until we have the vaccine rolled out.”

British authorities’ use of so-called “nudge” tactics to scare the public into Covid compliance has previously come under fire, with a group of psychologists last year describing the behaviour of civil servants and government scientists as “grossly unethical”.

During the pandemic, Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government denied it was scaremongering, with Hancock’s department describing those accusations as “misleading”.

But the devastating leak of Hancock’s messages in the Lockdown Files has revealed UK officials explicitly plotting to do just that.

In one conversation during the third national lockdown in January 2021, Cabinet Secretary Simon Case said the “the fear/guilt factor” would be “vital” in “ramping up the messaging”.

The Lockdown Files have broadly called into question decision-making behind the Covid response — from lockdowns and school closures to social distancing and face masks — showing that “despite public claims to always ‘follow the science’, key decisions were made on the fly for political reasons”, The Telegraph writes.

In one set of messages, Case and Hancock mocked members of the public who were forced to isolate in “shoebox” quarantine hotels.

“I just want to see some of the faces of people coming out of first class and into a premier inn shoebox,” Case wrote. “Any idea how many people we locked up in hotels yesterday?”

Hancock replied, “None. But 149 chose to enter the country and are now in Quarantine Hotels due to their own free will!”

 “Hilarious,” Case wrote back.

 The revelations have sparked outrage.

“My mate who had to spend two grand to be locked in a s**t hotel room in Heathrow for ten days so he could get home to see his terminally ill father before he died did not find this anywhere near as hilarious as Case and Hancock did,” wrote digital consultant Sharon O’Dea.

“Hotel quarantine was disastrous for families who paid thousands, those with disabilities and the travel industry. Plus it was found to do sod all in stopping Covid spread. Good that [Matt Hancock] and Simon Case thought it was a jolly old laugh then,” said The Times journalist Ben Clatworthy.

Former NHS surgeon Dr Anthony Hinton wrote, “Look at the date. Remember the Kent variant — that’s why I got locked down in Switzerland having arrived from UK. All just made up theatre. These people should be in prison.”

The WhatsApp messages, which have not been independently verified, were provided to The Telegraph by journalist Isabel Oakeshott, who co-authored Hancock’s book Pandemic Dairies.

In a statement last week, Hancock slammed Oakeshott for the “massive betrayal and breach of trust”.

“I am also sorry for the impact on the very many people — political colleagues, civil servants and friends — who worked hard with me to get through the pandemic and save lives,” he said.

He continued, “Isabel and I had worked closely together for more than a year on my book, based on legal confidentiality and a process approved by the Cabinet Office. Isabel repeatedly reiterated the importance of trust throughout, and then broke that trust.”

Hancock resigned in disgrace in June 2021 after being caught on camera having an affair with an aide, in breach of his own Covid restrictions.

The Elephant In the Room - Just Saying

A very large issue that everyone is acutely aware of, but nobody wants to talk about. Just as if there was a real elephant in the room which takes up most of the space, but people pretend it isn't there although it is...Perhaps a sore spot, perhaps politically incorrect, ... A very American saying, that is a metaphor for something that people do not want to discuss.

The elephant in the idiom is a metaphor for an uncomfortable issue, a topic or problem that everybody is aware of but intentionally does not address, and in this case if you do you could well be accused of antisemitism in a discussion on COVID!

 Brother Nathanael

Oh, look! Is That ... Matt Handcock of ill repute!

Na, Germs won't hurt you!

The Former Israeli Minister Shulamit Aloni talks openly on the holocaust, anti-Semitism and the inability for Israelis to accept criticism without resorting to false accusations of being a anti-Semite.

If You Dare Accuse Israel of Anything They Don't Like, They Will Say You Are Antisemitic!    And If You Deny The Holocaust happened, they Will Accuse You of being a Holocaust Denier!

In conclusion:  of course we know that Covid does not exist, but the 'elephant in the room' wishes that we believe it to (exist)...

The Perfect Act of Contrition

- vital information for those who are unable to get to confession for one reason or another, and in particular when it may be difficult for people to find a traditional site to receive the sacraments in these times of the great apostasy from the true faith.   In times of war this is important for the military personal who may not have any other recourse for confession.....this form fills in that need, (for ones sins to be fully forgiven/absolved), providing the penitent intends to confess to a valid priest at the earliest opportunity...

The Act of Perfect Contrition

O my God,

I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee.  I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of heaven and and the pains of hell.   But most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love.    I firmly resolve, with the help of thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life.   Amen

Hello from the USA! Great read here. That is a very large elephant, isn't it? It deserves the spotlight. I'm loving the nice selection of music you included as well. Glad to see that the bluegrass scene has made its way to NZ. I noticed the jasmine flowers. :) It's a lovely scent but I may be a bit biased. Keep spreading the truth.

Glad you enjoyed the blog and your appreciation for both the bluegrass and the perfume from my jasmine flowers. Actually the bluegrass scene was very much the in thing back in the 1960's as well as square dancing...that was fun. You might like this podcast which you can apparently download to whatever device you use...https://www.accessradio.org/ProgrammePage.aspx?PID=7384bc93-2a7d-4101-bfb6-b59630814b36 .....I didn't realize that these guys are still plucking their banjos 8-)

Fantastic! I'm going to listen to Back Porch Bluegrass while I work this morning. It's nice to know there are some positive influences coming from American culture to the rest of the world. It's not all bad over here! :D

As the saying goes, 'one good turn deserves another' ... Your reminding me of my musical origins way back in the early 60's and earlier ..including folk, country western, guitar and then bluegrass, when i bought my one and only banjo (Framus Brand)...all good stuff coming out of the States which we Kiwis absorbed....and let us not forget Fr. Leonard Feeney, MICM ..."The greatest theologian we have in the United States, by far."- — Rev. John J. McEleny, S.J., (Father's Jesuit Provincial)...you can read most of his writing sprinkled throughout my blog over the years..he was often referred to as 'the thorn in the side of the Jews'!...and of course, what would we all have done without Brother Michael and Peter Dimond OSB ( vaticancatholic.com) and their divinely inspired research 'about what happened to the Catholic Church after Vatican II'... one and all products of the USA ...so you have nothing to be ashamed of being American, but on the contrary quite the opposite.

I have to thank you for my stumbling upon Back Porch Bluegrass...so again something good is still coming out of America!💚😉..I have been having a sneak preview of some of the earliest ..this is interesting... Back Porch Bluegrass - 13-07-2021( 0:58:56) ..including 'footprints in the snow' ...hope you got a little, not the excess that some parts of the States have been experiencing of late!
Episode Information .... mind you they are all excellent all 100+ hours!

cheers ... and thanks for your interesting comments all the way from the Ozarks (region) and that like us in down under from 'way down south' , there are still some good people left in the world in these last days...

Jasmine said...

Yes, I'm enjoying the music. One Good Wiper Blade was a nice song from the 13-07-2021 episode, too. Thankfully, this winter has been mild in Missouri. We haven't been experiencing the level of snowfall that's happening in other places in the US. You got it right, the Ozarks. A true place for the bluegrass lifestyle. My dad actually lives in a town called Ozark, even though the region is also called the Ozarks. I hope I can experience what it's like "way down south" sometime soon. I've never met a kiwi before! The bird or the person. :D

I'll definitely be looking into Fr. Leonard Feeney, MICM and ohn J. McEleny, S.J.. I haven't heard of either of them. I have been exploring the information coming from the Dimond brothers thanks to your son. It's been very helpful on my journey towards truth. I'm happy to be talking with you both. Have a lovely Saturday!

Sorry for leaving you in the dark for so long! 8-( ....I actually had 11 comments up ...all my own and no replies....Mmmm ...I thought i guess Jasmine didn't appreciated them....so I then decided to remove them ( the beauty of being a moderator!) I then discovered they were nowhere to be seen....More Mmmm's perhaps I didn't even post them, meaning I typed them up and forgot to post....Na, surely its not my Alzheimers ??? ...Of course no... I'm much too young for that 8-)

Right now that we have straightened all that up ...I did have a lovely Saturday, thank you, but I can't remember what I did 8-(

Maybe I pulled a few weeds out of my garden, plucked a few notes on my ukulele, listened to Back Porch Bluegrass...Paul Trenwith has some interesting yarns/stories to relate, and he comments on the introduction to Lockdowns in NZ at the beginning of the 'plandemic', which I found interesting...

I am going to post a couple of pretty pictures on my latest blog, which you might find interesting, now that I have been informed I am going to host a visitor from the States at the commencement of our southern winter....and a little bit on what you can expect and compare it with what you have been used to in the States...you might be pleasantly surprised then again you might not....temperature wise that is.....Fr Leonard Feeney MICM...worth looking into or at least starting if you can find the time....https://catholic2007.blogspot.com/2017/

..and thanks for your comments always welcome 8-)

Well, now it's my turn to apologize for leaving you in the dark so long! I moved out of the bus and into a house this past week and it has taken much of my energy and thrown me out of my regular schedule. But I'm back in working order now.

I am excited to experience a southern winter in the middle of my northern summer. Switching hemispheres really plays tricks on the mind! I can only imagine what a summery Christmas feels like. Either way, it seems like your winters are more mild than mine. I'll be looking for those pretty pictures on your next blog post. The weather is starting to get warmer here in the States. Friday calls for potential tornado weather. Never a dull moment!

And I'll read through "The American Christmas Story" when I get a chance! Looks interesting.

Alright, back to work for me. Talk soon!

catholic2007 said...

Remember, Jasmine, there are 15 things there is no need to APOLOGIZE for....and since I can't even remember one ...I have to apologize 8-)

It has been sooo long since I commented that I had to really think hard about "The American Christmas Story" you mentioned... so I had to google/duckduck go it or whatever...and what do you know, Fr.Feeney- 'The Point' article popped up ... so to save you time I have added the link below this lot....so now no excuses for procrastinating, and as a patriotic American it should prove an eye opener, and an appreciation of this Catholic priest's wit etc...

https://fatherfeeney.wordpress.com/2009/08/22/the-point-december-1952/

Missouri/Soringfield weather looks a bit wild for the latter part of this week (Friday) and again the beginning of next week for a couple of days) with scattered thunderstorms (and possible tornadoes?) as the warmer air is gradually replaced by colder air from the west/northwest as both systems move eastwards across the States to the eastern coastline (NY region)...Sounds like a fairly normal setup as you head out of your winter into early spring ...warm to cold to warm etc...

Signs of Spring (partly plagiarized)

'The sunshine gleams so bright and warm
...the sky is blue and clear with no chem trails ...
I run outside without a coat ...and spring is almost here.

Then before I know it, small clouds (cumuus/Tcu) have gathered round me...

..til the sun just can't get through...and lightning flashes...
and hail stones clatter...drat ...it's back to mitten weather...8-(

Hello there! Hope you had a lovely Easter Sunday. It's nice to enter into the Easter season after a long Lent. The weather was quite extreme here last week. Thankfully no tornadoes in my area. But in another area of Missouri, tornadoes hit and 4 people lost their lives. It's terrible when they come through in the middle of the night without much chance to prepare for them.

Thanks for posting this detailed report on the expected weather temps in June/July. This will help me know how to pack my suitcase for your climate. :) It seems like your winters are very mild compared to mine. I think I'd quite like the winters in NZ. I'm really looking forward to visiting. I appreciate that NZ is so coastal in its landscape. For many of us in the US it's easy to stay land-locked and never see the ocean. So I really cherish the moments when I get to enjoy the salt water lapping against the shore.

I better get back to work now. Hope you have a great week!

Hi Jasmine and greetings once again from "way down south" .....Easter has come and gone and visited my daughter Catherine after Mass with confession afterwards which was handy since the SSPX chapel is in the suburb of Tawa close to where she lives. Weather was fine and sunny, T 23 deg C ( 75 deg F )and not too much wind, considering we live in the Wellington region which is noted for its winds....'the windy city', although the further out from the WN CBD it is noticeably less windy...

Have been checking the States weather and Missouri with Springfield in particular and tracking the MSM Surface analysis maps and was interesting to see the development of thundery outbreaks as the colder air invaded the middle and eastern States from Kansas Misssouri through to Kentucky and States north like Illinios, Indiana and Ohio. Sad about the tornadoes and the loss of life. We have just had a fairly similar run of unsettled weather here and in parts of the North Island, with Auckland being hit also by a tornado ( which are as a rule fairly rare in NZ, and we had thunderstorms yesterday from 2:30pm right through til early this morningg, and with 32 mm of rain up to 9am this morning( that's around 1 and a third inches of rain ...

Just had a peek at yr 10 day F/CST and it seems we are both experiencing roughly the same temperature range, with Stokes Valley heading into the cooling phase before winter strikes, and Springfield into its warming phase as you head towards summer! We have been getting 23 deg C ( 75 deg F) Overnight lows of around 7-14 deg C ( 45-57F) at present ..

As we get closer to the start of our winter which could be somewhere around the middle of May, I will give you an update of what the"experts" are predicting for NZ this winter, in case you need to bring an extra pair of woollen mittens 8-)..Actually, I have never really worn woollen gloves during Wellington winters. The South Island, yes, especially if you live in say Christchurch on those cold frosty mornings!

Yes, I like having the ocean close by, and I do miss New Brighton in Christchurch where I was only 1.3 km from the beach....whereas here we are rather landlocked living in Stokes Valley, although admittedly only about 18 km to Petone beach to the south of us. So for most in this country a trip to the beach is at most perhaps an hour or at the most a couple of hours, maybe 3 hours drive away....Mmmm

Better go as I am meant to be hopping across to Tawa ( a 40 min drive)to visit Catherine....hopefully no more thunderstorms ... although I do love thunderstorms!!!) I have a bit of work to do there...

cheers for now ....will have to make sure yr other comment was posted when I get back...

I can tell that you are passionate about weather patterns! I understand that was your line of work before retiring? Yes, we are in a season where our temperatures are very similar to yours. This is the best time of the year in Missouri, in my opinion. When tornadoes aren't a threat, It's nice to enjoy these moderate days before the heat and humidity take over and it's no longer enjoyable to spend time outside. I just moved into a house and I've been taking my dog for long walks in the neighborhood.

It's great that you live near Catherine and an SSPX chapel, and can visit both frequently. I am grateful to have an SSPX chapel only 5 minutes driving time from my house. I lived in the state of Utah prior to this and there wasn't an SSPX chapel in the entire state. The US is so large, that it can result in everything being very spread out. There are pros and cons to that, but I had to be strategic about where I chose to live this time.

Have a great day!

Utah is about 79.4 % the size of NZ ref map link...https://www.mylifeelsewhere.com/country-size-comparison/utah-usa/new-zealand.... it is surprising how big little old NZ is but that is because it is stretched out between two main Islands, the North island and the South Island 9 some of us parochial kiwis refer to the South Island as the "Mainland"!!

You went from one extreme region (Utah....in the rain shadow/hot summers/cold winters) to a warm summer/cold winter region of the States with moderate mainly summer rainfall I studied U.S. geography at high school/College or maybe it was at Uni (university)... I forget 8-)...but I have an old primary school geography atlas (1950s) which is a handy reckoner so I can look intelligent !!!!!

SSPX have their HQ (headquarters ...Mmmm how come they call it that???) in Wanganui, and they service on a weekly basis generally, centres like Wellington, Auckland, Hamilton ( Hamilton County Bluegrass Band (but I don't know whether they into Bluegrass!!) ...and Napier, Whangarei and someone told me they were servicing Nelson in the South Island.

Because they are valid priests, but heretics 'cos they follow Vat II and the antipopes, and hold onto other heresies, like denying EENS, we can still use them for receiving the sacraments, but you shouldn't be supporting them ie putting money into their collection plate

Last SSPX priest we had in WN was Fr. Johnson who hailed from sunny California, which is not the place I would choose to live in if I lived in the States..... at Mass

Personally, if I was to visit the States I would be doing the whole of Route 66, having watched a lot of documentaries on YouTube or suchlike...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DkwnRcLVw8...goes thru' Missouri too 8-)

Wow! Who said the States was BIG....It's HUGE viz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubMg3GYUQH8
Route 66 is not Big it's HUNUNGOUS ...I was waithing to get to Missouri ...but no mention of it ....still following the drone flight!

By the way we pronounce it as "Root 66" spelling is route as we both agree but the pronunciation is different...8-) Used to watch the T.V. show back then and the theme music is well known 'down under'

I wud need someone from the States with me otherwise I would get well and truly lost somewhere in the hinterlands of America.. one lost little kiwi...8-( Awww
Cheers

I worked in the NZ Meteorological Service for approx 25 years, and as far back as I can remember I was always fascinated by weather and my hobby became my profession, in a manner of speaking...I spent approximately 25 years working for the NZ Met Service in various offices around the Country, starting with my first posting from the Aeronautical College at Christchurch International Airport where I successfully completed a 3 months training course, to the Chief Forecasting O(fice in Kelburn, Wellington, then the Wellington Airport Met Office, Kaitaia and Gisborne, including 1 year on sub Antarctic Campbell Island and three years on the Chatham islands.

Have fun viewing the Campbell Island blog...we were very fortunate in being able to have that experience back then because now everything is automated and the island is now a kind of conservation area...no one lives on it except lots of rock hopper penguins and sea elephants and albatrosses to mention a few..scroll down a bit to read blog https://catholic2007.blogspot.com/2017/
