In 1251 AD in the Aylesford in England, Our Lady appeared to Saint Simon Stock, the first prior general of the Carmelites in the West.  Holding a scapular in her hand, she said " This is a sign to you and to all Carmelites that whosoever dies wearing this scapular, shall never see eternal fire."

 

 

All privileges and indulgences that went with this large scapular of the Carmelites were later extended to the familiar small "brown scapular" and later to the Scapular Medal.

The monastery at Aylesford was confiscated by Kink Henry VIII and the Carmelites were exiled.

 

In 1950, the Carmelites regained possession of the monastery in time to celebrate the seventh centenary of the Scapular of Mount Carmel.

The Carmelites were back in Aylesford after an exile of four hundred years.

 

The body of Saint Simon Stock was returned to Aylesford from France in 1951

Urgent Help Needed For The People Of Tokelau!!

 

 

Following Liz's first interview with Mahelino just over a week ago: 

 

- a big rock was thrown at his house, 

 

- somebody attempted to set a fire against the wall of his home in the early hours, 

 

- and the local leaders, who have openly supported the oppressive rule of Ross Ardern in Tokelau, have now cut off Mahelino from being able to get phone & internet credit so that the family have minimal communication with the growing number of Kiwis who are deeply concerned for their wellbeing. 

 

Please watch and share this with everybody you know, we must support our fellow kiwis in Tokelau.
